The Right Idea
The Right Idea gathers together tracks from Kenny Howes' first three (out of print) albums. All three sit somewhere in my collection, which makes me feel like a complete obscurist. Is Kenny doomed to be known only to reclusive critics and connoisseurs of fine pop? Not if there's any justice in the world -- his fine sense of melody and honed lyrical style make for music that's substantial yet instantly likeable. Listening to selections from Drawing heavily from British Invasions (I hear a lot of Kinks here...) and American Counter-revolutions. All my faves -- "Thought You'd Never Go," "Girls With Glasses," "Let Me In" -- are here, plus twenty minutes of hallucinatory outtakes. Impressive! This is gotta-have pop.
