This is the most successful fusion of techno and "traditional" guitar oriented pop-rock I've heard to date, and one of the most promising debuts in a long, long time. Perfect hooks, driving guitar-riff rhythms, techno edge, compelling vocals, GOOD SONGS. While I'm not trying to make a direct comparison to Smashing Pumpkins, Fold Zandura have all the chops, all the attitude, all the pop sensibilities, and all the vision to occupy a similar space. This is a band that deserves some serious attention. I can see these boys selling lots and lots of records if promoted well. I'm not sure if this is really a criticism but this album would perhaps have been stronger if it were a little shorter. Sometimes it's better to leave them wanting more. 14 songs, like Revolver or Rubber Soul. Nonetheless, this is a work to be applauded. BEC Recordings, 810 3rd Avenue #410-20, Seattle, WA 98104
