Welcome to the End
Fast, aggressive leftist punk rock. "Yankee Boy" is yet another stab at anyone in the military who doesn't desert when the bullets start flying. "Suspect" is about society being to blame for crime and not the criminals. "K.G.B." is a paranoid anti-American, pro-USSR punk rant, which misses the point since India and Pakistan got into a pissing contest. "Welcome to the End," the title track, points a finger at the world's cities and how they're all going to burn.
OK, musically, the Generators are great. Right on target with speedy punk rock. But strange leftist stance is right out of a Eugene McCarthy campaign advertisement (who? look him up! -it'll explain everything). I go to punk shows these days and everyone's looking for something to fight against and all that might be left is to bring up old conflicts or misunderstandings that a good read of the newspapers and a history book would clear up. But Welcome to the End is the Generators' soapbox, not mine. If you're a left-wing, commie pinko who digs good old fashioned punk rock, Marx my words, you'll dig this.
