John P. Strohm

Vestavia

Flat Earth

It seems like so long since Strohm first broke through with the Blake Babies, the Boston band that gave us Juliana Hatfield, Antenna, and a convoluted family tree of a half dozen excellent bands. On Strohm's latest release, he can come across as American as they get, as a wry Tom Petty or humble John Mellencamp, with a lazy drawl and swagger to both music and voice. "Home" is a beautiful slow number that revels in its wistful chords. Worth finding.
