The Heartworms/California Stadium

Split

Ace-Fu

The Heartworms lay down a stuttering funk bassline, jingle some bells, add drifting harmonica and inconspicuously buzzing synths, tell a woman to babble into a vocal processor, fade into the ether, and call it a song -- bent, if not a bit too whimsical. California Stadium, pet project of some hack named Andrew Basile, is poorly conceived Hank Williams worship that stretches preciousness to the Nth degree -- basically, one more reason to shoot Will Oldham.
