Slipknot To Reschedule Us Tour In 2002
from the Slipped dept.
Regrettably, SLIPKNOT have had to postpone their headlining U.S. tour which was set to kick off November 21 in Fargo, ND and wrap December 21 in their hometown of Des Moines, IA. The dates will be rescheduled in 2002. Earlier this week, the wife of percussionist SHAWN (#6) CRAHAN had surgery at the Mayo Clinic for Crohn's Disease. Since her difficult recuperation is expected to take six weeks, CLOWN will remain at home in Iowa to care for his wife and three young children. The band apologizes to their fans and hope that they will understand this decision. The band will tour Japan, Australia and Canada before returning to the U.S. for the rescheduled dates (TBA).

Record Mistaken for Bomb
from the At Least Give It A Spin dept.
Last week, What Are Records? General Manager Ted Guggenheim received a phone call from the Schertz County Police Department in Schertz, Texas. Clad in full biohazard gear, the police officer called to ask him what was in the package sent to The Bawdsey Manor British Tea Room, in Schertz. Instead of the materials the police had feared, the packaging before them contained the solo debut release CD from Squeeze frontman Glenn Tilbrook. What had made the police and shop owner suspicious was the logo of a planet with the acronym W.A.R.? written around it. What Are Records? would like to express that the W.A.R.? acronym and the URL War.com are not used out of insensitivity to the recent tragedies and current World events. In fact, Rob Gordon, founder of What Are Records?, gave the company its name and obvious acronym W.A.R.? (with a question mark) because of a double entendre "1) our industry is called the 'record business' yet we barely sell records anymore and 2) we question war as a means for resolving conflict."

Quote of the Day
from the Sex and Drugs and the Other Thing dept.
Motley Crue was a band for whom I'd buy any poster. Shout at the Devil was a huge record for me. Every interview you read they're having sex and doing drugs. I've got some old Creem magazines with interviews of them and it's just sick. It just totally shaped me as a going-through-puberty teenager that these guys were just getting laid constantly and doing drugs. And I was like "Oh my god!" -- Tony Goddess of pApAs Fritas talks about one of his early musical influences.
