Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley has been in high demand since the success of the O Borther Where Art Thou soundtrack. He has several high profile appearances coming up to promote the Down From the Mountain Tour this summer.

Dee Dee Ramone Dead

Dee Dee Ramone, a founding member of punk pioneers the Ramones, died Wednesday night in his Hollywood home, according to a spokesperson for the L.A. County Coroner's office. The bassist was 50.

Musicians Rally For Education

Tens of thousands demonstrating against NYC's proposed $1.2 billion cuts in education were joined by several major artists including Jay-Z, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Wu-Tang Clan, Foxy Brown, P. Diddy and several more. Ordered away from the area, Wyclef Jean laid down in the streets and was consequently arrested and led away in handcuffs.

R. Kelly Arrested For Child Pornography

R. Kelly was arrested in Florida late last night, on the grounds of a videotaping showing him having sex with an underage girl. Fifty withnesses have attested that the man on the tape is in fact R. Kelly, and officials warn those who are in possession of the tape - bootleg copies of which are sold on the streets - that they are in possession of child porn.

The E Street Take-Over

Bruce Springsteen announced a July 30 release of The Rising, his first all-new studio recording with the E Street Band since 1984's Born in the USA. Song titles include "Into the Fire," "Further On (Up the Road), "Mary's Place," and "My City of Ruins," so that should give us an idea of what to expect. Classic Springsteen, presumably.
