The tax man will follow you to the ends of the Earth. Just ask Dave Arnett, a 36-year-old electrician from Hayward, who sometimes plies his trade at the McMurdo Station on Ross Island, Antarctica. Because that is outside the United States, for 2001, Arnett didn't pay any taxes on the $48,894 in wages he earned there, claiming the Internal Revenue Service has no jurisdiction over such foreign income.
