Goose Creek Symphony - From The Vaults

The recording sessions began in 1972 and in the year 2007 the legendary Goose Creek Symphony are in a Nashville studio putting the finishing touches on an album that until recently had been forgotten about. Recorded in Nashville and Seattle in the 1970's, the album features the original Goose Creek lineup. The master tapes have remained in the vaults until recently and have never been heard by the public. Also, on August 21st the group will release "The Goose is Loose" (Expanded Edition) which is a re-release of their live album from the early 1990's. The expanded edition comes with re-mastered audio, new artwork by Chris Kro, and a second disc of material. The double cd set will be distributed nationally by Select-O-Hits. Goose Creek is currently finishing up their summer tour of select festivals and venues that began in May. Their 12th annual Goose on the Lake music festival was recorded for an XM concert special that will run later this year.

Jazz Great George Shearing Collects Knighthood

One of the best known jazz pianists of the post-war era, he was made an OBE in 1996 and received a life achievement honour at the BBC Jazz Awards in 2003. Born the youngest of nine children to a coalman from south London in 1919, Sir George moved to the United States in 1947 and has lived in New York since 1978.

2007 DIY Book Festival

The 2007 DIY Book Festival has placed a special focus on
the poetry, fan fiction, unpublished stories and comics/'zines
categories in its annual event honoring the top independent authors and
small publishers.
The DIY Book Festival will consider self-published or independent
publisher non-fiction, fiction, biography/autobiography, children's
books, teenage, how-to, cookbooks, science fiction, audio/spoken word,
photography, art, comics, 'zines, fan fiction, poetry and e-books
published on or after Jan. 1, 2005. All entries must be in English and
have been self-published or issued by an independent publishing house..
